a KVM mod

Belkin seems to have dropped the ball on this one. The KVM works, but it was awkward to use. The cables come out from opposite ends and the unit needed to be within reach in order to switch it because the switch is on the top of the unit. The cables are also very stiff and inflexible, so arranging it on your desk is just a pain - there is no nice way to do it! After discussing the possiblities, Dave and I came up with a plan - a new switch. But even better than that, we decided to go with phone jacks and phone cord as an 'extension', so we can mount the actual switch as far away from the KVM unit as we want. It may not be pretty, but it's a whole lot better than the original.
